How to Obtain an IRC Certificate in Bangladesh

An Import Registration Certificate (IRC) is a mandatory legal requirement for businesses in Bangladesh intending to import goods commercially. It's issued by the Office of the Chief Controller of Imports and Exports (CCI&E) under the Ministry of Commerce — without it, no business can import goods legally through the customs authority.

Any registered business entity can apply, including:

• Sole proprietorship
• Partnership firm
• Limited company

To apply for an IRC Certificate, you will need:

• Valid Trade License
• TIN Certificate
• VAT Registration Certificate
• Bank Solvency Certificate
• Memorandum of Association & Certificate of Incorporation (for companies)
• Partnership deed (for partnership firms)
• Import Policy Order compliance documents
• Passport-size photographs of the owner, partners, or directors

1. Visit the CCI&E website — go to the official CCI&E online application portal at ccie.gov.bd.
2. Create an account — sign up using your valid email address and mobile number.
3. Fill in the application form — complete the online form with business details, owner information, and bank details.
4. Upload documents — scan and upload all required documents in PDF or JPEG format.
5. Pay government fees — payment can be made through bank draft, pay order, or online banking, as instructed.
6. Submit the application — after submission, the system will provide an application tracking number.
7. Inspection & approval — CCI&E officials may verify documents or conduct physical verification; upon approval, the IRC Certificate is issued electronically.
8. Receive your IRC Certificate — digital or printed, as applicable.

The IRC must be renewed annually by paying the prescribed renewal fees through the CCI&E portal, within 60 days prior to the expiry date.
